Bishop Griswold's father, Frank T. Griswold, Jr., won the 1st Watkins Glen Grand Prix in 1948 driving an Alfa Romeo sedan. Bishop Griswold was in Watkins Glen for the Historic Grand Prix Re-enactment on Friday, 9 September 2011. He was honored at Noon with a re-dedication of his father's sidewalk stone placed in honor of his father's innaugural win. Hundreds of cars participated in the re-enactment driving on the original Grand Prix course down the main street of Watkins Glen and up through Watkins Glen State Park.
Bishop Griswold preached and celebrated the Eucharist at Saint James' Church Watkins Glen on Sunday, 11 September 2011, at the 10 am Eucharist. Also participating on Sunday was the Bishop of Rochester, The Right Reverend Prince Singh.
The Sunday service marked the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center.
The Episcopal Parishes of Schuyler County hosted a lawn reception adjacent to the Church immediately after the service for the Bishops.
