SCHUYLER COUNTY CONCERT SERIES VII
The Episcopal Church's concert series conducts ts seventh season this Summer. The 2012 season was a resounding success with a record six concerts: the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra (twice), Ken Kolodner and a dulcimer concert, Tumbleweeds Cowboy music, the Ithaca Choral Ensemble, and an Organ Recital. Additionally we held a community July 4th sing-along with three area church choirs as part of the series. The ARTS Council of the Southern Tier has again awarded the Concert Series with a grant from the New York State Decentralization Fund for the 2013 concert season. This means that the series can continue to engage professional musicians.
All concerts at 7.30 o’clock.
Individual Concert tickets: $15; Seniors: $12; Children: Free
Unfortunately, the State of New York has held up funding the ARTS Council grants already made. Consequently the Concert Series has no capital to announce a full concert schedule yet. (June 2013)
The concert schedule so far is:
Saturday, April 27th: Concert with Ken and Brad Kolodner
(fiddle, claw-hammer and gourd banjo, banjola, guitar, hammered dulcimer and mbira)
Friday, June 21th: Members of the Manhattan Chamber Orchestra with Christine Moulton, flutist, featured. Program: Beethoven's Serenade in D, A Mozart quarter, and a Schubert trio.
Tuesday, July 9th: Members of the Manhattan Chamber Orchesta playing "Bach to Rock" with all electric instruments: violins, bass and keyboard. Classical to ethnic, folk, rag, pop and jazz.
The Concert Series is made possible, in part, with public funds from the New York Council on the Arts' Decentralization Program, administered locally by The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes. Their websites are: www.eARTS.org and www.NYSCA.org
